Background

The 2025 Financial Mentoring Programme entitled “LevelUp Guiding migrant domestic workers through consistent and wise saving habits” offers a valuable opportunity for financial empowerment and personal development for both Mentees and Mentors. Mentors can benefit from this program in various ways, including: 1. Broadening skills and knowledge, 2. Gaining new perspectives, 3. Expanding personal and professional networks through meeting other mentors, 4. Finding fulfillment from witnessing and supporting others as they develop from their experiences, 5. Having the opportunity to guide and empower migrant domestic workers towards financial independence, among other advantages. Mentees in this program have completed the Enrich financial education workshops, giving them a basic understanding of budgeting, saving, and investing. They also learned how to discuss their financial goals with family members. The key focus areas for mentees include: 1. Identifying medium & long-term savings goals, 2. Managing spending and savings, 3. Managing debts and, ideally, avoiding them to maintain financial stability. Watch this video to learn more about the program: https://enrichhk.org/volunteer

What We Have

We will provide a training session for mentors, and our staff will work closely with you throughout the mentoring programme.

Why this is important

We recognize the need for migrant domestic workers to have individualised support about their personal financial goals and plans for their future. External advice and neutral guidance from a qualified mentor may be extremely helpful for our participants who can also keep the learning momentum going after completing our financial education workshops.

What We Do

We believe that financial and empowerment education is the solution to the challenges faced widely by Hong Kong’s migrant domestic workers Most domestic workers arrive in HK in substantial debt due to recruitment fees. They are vulnerable to financial exploitation in the form of scams or unfavourable loans. Did you know the legal interest rate for loans is 60%? HK's domestic workers receive little support to save or plan for their own future. With salaries as low as HK$4,630 per month, domestic workers face enormous pressures on their finances - for example, to pay off debts, send large amounts home or lend to friends. As a result, they might work for decades with little or nothing to show for it. Our interactive workshops and activities run on weekends and public holidays, in native languages of domestic workers (Tagalog and Bahasa Indonesia), equipping them with skills, knowledge and confidence to escape debt, plan for their future and achieve their goals. We are impartial and do not sell or promote any financial products as part of our programmes in order to create a safe, trusted learning environment.

All applications applied through our system will be delivered directly to the advertiser and privacy of personal data of the applicant will be ensured with security.
