Faculty of Arts and Humanities

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities currently offers three associate degree programmes, two Cap320 Bachelor degree programmes and Diploma of Applied Education. The programme areas cover Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, cultural studies, media and communication. With the knowledge and skills acquired from their respective disciplines, our graduates are all well-prepared for further study and employment.

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities has well-qualified full-time academic staff. We are a multinational, multicultural community - our teachers currently come from Hong Kong, Mainland China, UK, USA, Japan, Korea, Spain and Canada.

In addition to its own programmes, the Faculty also offers

  1. Internationally recognized language assessment tests (PSC, for Putonghua; DELE, for Spanish; KLAT, for Korean; and TCF, for French);
  2. College-wide English language requirement courses;
  3. Summer English enhancement activities such as Summer Splash and the Grammar Drama Camp;
  4. IELTS preparatory courses.  

Job Specification

The Assistant Professor/Lecturer has the following specific responsibilities:

  1. teaching courses in the area of English Language and Linguistics or related disciplines;
  2. conduct research, publish research results in referred academic journals, and attend conferences;
  3. programme administration and course development;
  4. assisting in the development of programmes at various levels;
  5. taking up administrative works at the College level; and
  6. developing and coordinating extra-curricular activities for students.

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  1. A doctoral degree in English Language Studies or English Linguistics;
  2. A minimum of two years’ teaching experience in tertiary education and/or relevant industry experience;
  3. Applicants without a doctoral degree or with less work experience will be considered for the post of Lecturer.

Candidates with knowledge of curriculum development, syllabus design, and assessing learning outcomes are preferred.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will normally be made on fixed-term contract for one year. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental schemes.
