Position Summary & Objective

To manage all purchased items and control inventory.

Essential Functions Performed by the Position

Purchasing

  • Design, implement and manage a vendor rating system in order to create approved supplier list and manager vendor performance.
  • Implement & maintain supply agreements with major suppliers, ensuring KPIs are agreed and regularly reviewed.
  • Maintain and manage raw material requirements plan, ensuring alignment at all times with production plan.
  • Carry out tactical material control functions such as producing and issuing vendor schedules and action expedite / de-expedite messages.
  • Assist Supply Chain Manager in the strategic review of supplier base.
  • Provide effective negotiation in purchasing of lowest overall cost non inventory items, developing and using appropriate purchasing tools and techniques.
  • Look at where year on year cost savings can be target and achieved.
  • Receive and process supplier deliveries, reconciling delivery notes with purchase orders and assist in the resolution of invoice queries.
  • Assist the Supply Chain Manager in the managing of Sub Contractors.
  • Look and implement ways to eliminate waste and non-value added activities, look to use technology where possible.

Inventory

  • Assist the Supply Chain Manager with the Managing of slow moving and dead stock levels with view of minimizing.
  • Assist in the Supply Chains / Company’s Targets on Stock Turns.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent understanding of the principles of Material Requirements Planning
  • Must be able to identify areas of weakness - in Inventory, Purchasing and Supplier Development processes - and then design, plan and implement improvement plans
  • Excellent numeric and communication skills
  • Excellent I.T. Skills – Word, Excel, Access, Outlook etc.
  • The ability to work accurately paying close attention to detail
  • The ability to maintain accurate records of supplier meetings, purchase costs and other data & documentation
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines, prioritise workload and work under pressure
  • Keen awareness of how role impacts on commercial success of the business
  • Must have the ability to multi task, be self motivated and able to work autonomously as well as in a team environment
  • Flexibility to accommodate ever-changing working environment and demands placed upon it
  • Possess a positive, professional, can do attitude
  • Must be able to fit in to a culture where teamwork, empowerment and dedication are of utmost importance

Required Education and Experience

  • Degree in a relevant discipline
  • Must have ERP system experience , Ideally MAS
  • Previous purchasing and inventory management experience essential

Licenses or Certifications Required

  • CIPS
