Position: Research & Development - Machine Learning Leader

Reports To: CEO

Job Summary:

The Chief of R&D - Machine Learning will spearhead the development and integration of machine learning (ML) features within Laservall’s product line. This position involves designing and leading ML initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and innovating to ensure our offerings are at the forefront of technology.

Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Planning and Innovation:
   • Develop a strategic roadmap for integrating ML features in Laservall's products in alignment with the company's 5-year business plan.
   • Identify emerging ML trends and technologies relevant to Laservall’s industry and advocate for their adoption.
2. Product Development:
   • Lead and oversee the development of ML models, algorithms, and systems tailored to enhance Laservall’s products.
   • Collaborate with product management, engineering, and technology teams to ensure ML projects meet customer needs and product requirements.
3. Team Leadership and Mentorship:
   • Build and lead a high-performance R&D team focused on ML and AI, fostering innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
   • Mentor junior researchers and developers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.
4. Research and Experimentation:
   • Conduct and oversee rigorous research and experimentation to validate and improve ML models.
   • Ensure ML models are robust, efficient, and scalable, meeting the required standards for deployment.
5. Project Management:
   • Establish project milestones, timelines, and deliverables for ML initiatives, ensuring projects remain on track and within budget.
   • Regularly report on project progress, challenges, and success metrics to the executive team.
6. Compliance and Ethics:
   • Develop protocols for the ethical use of ML, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices for data privacy and security.
   • Oversee risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to address any ethical or regulatory concerns related to ML.
7. Cross-functional Collaboration:
   • Work closely with Sales, Operations, and Technology VPs to align ML efforts with business objectives and customer needs.
   • Provide technical expertise in client meetings as needed to explain Laservall’s ML capabilities.

Requirements:

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience in ML research and development, ideally with experience in a leadership role.
• Strong background in ML algorithms, data analysis, and AI frameworks.
• Exceptional project management skills, with experience in bringing ML products from concept to market.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical language for diverse audiences.
