12 months/8 hrs/day

Schedule: 6:00 am-2:30 pm

JOB GOAL: To maintain a high standard of maintenance that will ensure a safe environment for students, staff and visitors in an efficient and economical operation.

Performance Responsibilities

  • Performs duties as specified by the Maintenance Crew Chief or other designated supervisory personnel.
  • Performs installations, maintenance and/or repair of electrical systems and subsystems to include single phase and three phase power systems.
  • Performs installation, maintenance and repair of telecommunication equipment to include, but not limited to the following: Public Address Systems, telephones, computer networking and fire and security systems.
  • Performs installation, maintenance and/or repair of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
  • Performs installation and repair functions of tasks related to the following: plumbing, windows, doors and related hardware, floor covering (carpet, tile, hardwood, etc.), woodworking, demolition and remodeling, kitchen equipment, roof repair, snow removal.
  • Must possess refrigeration and air conditioning, maintenance and repair experience for at least one year.
  • Must possess working knowledge of Energy Management System.
  • Must possess working knowledge and understanding of safety and health regulations related to New York State public school districts.

  • Must have good knowledge of the common practices, tools, terminology and accident precautions of two or more standard trades.
  • Must have the ability to work from plans and specifications, and to follow through rough sketches and oral instructions.
  • Must have the ability to lay out work for self and maintenance mechanics helpers.
  • Must have good attendance history and work performance record.
  • Must have the physical and mental capability to perform the responsibilities and demands of the position.
  • Must possess and maintain a NYS Department of Labor Asbestos Supervisor/Contractor certification.
  • Must possess Refrigerant Transition and Recovery certification.
  • Must have clean driving record and must be able to safely drive school vehicles.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess a positive attitude; be able to work independently as a team member.
