Our client, a world leading data center developer, is looking for a Data Centre MEP construction lead based in Hong Kong. They have a strong construction pipeline for their data centers in Hong Kong as they do globally. They have a really good work culture including flat hierarchy and open communication, plus attractive salary packages, meaning a low attrition rate.
Data Centre Electrical Design involves overseeing the electrical engineering aspects of data center projects.
Responsibilities:
Lead Electrical Engineering Activities: Oversee the entire electrical design process, ensuring adherence to company procedures and industry standards.
Design and Planning: Prepare the Basis of Design, Master Plan, Concept, and Schematic designs for data centers.
Detail Engineering: Develop detailed engineering plans, including load lists, load balancing, single-line diagrams (SLD), power distribution, and equipment layouts.
Calculations and Analysis: Perform design calculations for sizing major electrical equipment, load flow, short-circuit, harmonic studies, and arc flash studies.
Manage the design consultants, reviewing their drawings.
Cost Estimation and Procurement: Estimate costs for electrical packages and manage procurement activities, including reviewing vendor drawings and technical offers.
Client Interaction: Participate in client discussions, address feedback, and maintain long-term client relationships.
Project Coordination: Coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
Site Visits and Troubleshooting: Visit sites for residual engineering and resolve technical queries.
Training and Development: Train and mentor junior engineers and designers.
Main focus design but may occasionally involve some site due diligence work and supporting the leasing and sales teams.
Requirements:
10-15 years+ experience in leading Data Center projects
Knowledge of Electrical Codes and Standards: Familiarity with IS/IEC standards and other relevant electrical codes.
Technical Proficiency: Expertise in electrical design software and tools, such as ETAP.
Project Management: Strong project management skills to ensure timely completion of designs and adherence to budgets.
Communication: Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with clients and team members. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of data center electrical systems
