CHIL Interior Design is the Hospitality Interior Design studio of B+H Architects. CHIL is a boutique studio with a specialization and focus on hotels and multi-family residential design. Our Hong Kong Studio

For more than 12 years, the Hong Kong studio has played a central role in anchoring and growing the firm’s presence in Asia and as a center of excellence for design. A creative and diverse team is dedicated to delivering high quality design and project management services for varied and prestigious local and international clients.


Today, the Hong Kong studio is focused on delivering high quality projects and expanding our footprint within three key sectors including Institutional and Health architecture, landscape architectural design and, through our CHIL Interior Design practice, hospitality focused interior design services.


This Opportunity

The Client Development Director will work closely with studio Principals to develop and execute the overall business strategy of the studio.


They should demonstrate strong capabilities to develop and build up business with clients across Interior Design, Architecture and Landscape service lines.


They should provide market intelligence across all the service lines of the HK studio to help direct BD and marketing efforts.


They should be actively engaged in brokering new markets, pursuit lines and client relationships.


Responsibilities

  • Bring in leads that result in successful contracts to meet a yearly target set by the Studio Principals.
  • Follow up on targeted local pursuits as directed by the Hong Kong Principals.
  • Develop, build and maintain relationships with local Tier 1 architect clients and international businesses and client bodies, including leading design partners within Mainland China.
  • Coordinate the production of appropriate marketing materials for these potential clients (brochures, PowerPoint presentations, proposals, etc.) to be prepared by the B+H marketing team.
  • Report to the Studio Principals in Hong Kong and Principal in Charge of projects.
  • Keep written records of all client contacts and progress of leads using the B+H system.
  • Lead bi-weekly BD meetings and report on all progress opportunities and client contacts to Marketing team and Principals.
  • The functions to focus on are Interior Design (primarily Hospitality as well as a growing Commercial Mixed-Use portfolio), Planning, Landscape and Architecture (primarily Healthcare and Institutional sectors).
  • This role requires frequent travel into the Greater Bay Area.
  • Coordinate with Marketing personnel and/or Principals in B+H global offices when required for leads outside of Greater China.
  • Use Go-No-Go and Project initiation forms in coordination with supervising Principal for any leads.
  • Coordinate the signing of contracts by having the contract reviewed by Legal and the Principal in Charge of the project. Assist with drafting contracts specifically relating to the definition of scope of work, roles and responsibilities, programme and payment terms with clients


Position Requirements:

The successful candidate will have the following core experience and expertise:


  • A minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in client development activities and driving proposals in a professional services design firm Expertise within any of our core service lines: Architecture, Interior Design, and Planning + Landscape area, is essential.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and persuasive influence skills, with the ability to navigate and negotiate different personalities and competing priorities.
  • Conscientious and flexible, with a strong work ethic and team-player attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, influence, collaborate and be decisive.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations under demanding conditions in a time-sensitive environment with good humour and a professional attitude.
  • Willing and able to work overtime and to travel within the Greater Bay Area.
  • Proficient in both spoken and written English.
  • Native Cantonese speaker with strong proficiency in Mandarin Chinese
