We are recruiting on behalf of a leading Global Macro Hedge Fund based in Hong Kong, seeking an experienced ASEAN Economist to join their esteemed team. The focus will be on covering ASEAN markets, with a preference for candidates who have worked on India or Indonesia, and ideally have exposure to Malaysia or Thailand.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct in-depth analysis of macroeconomic trends and data across ASEAN markets, focusing on India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
• Provide high-quality research and reports to guide investment strategies.
• Monitor and interpret monetary policies, economic developments, and geopolitical events impacting the region.
• Collaborate with investment teams to craft actionable strategies based on your insights.

Requirements:

• 5-10 years of experience in macroeconomic research, with a strong focus on ASEAN economies.
• PhD or MSc in Economics or relative field.
• Experience covering India or Indonesia is essential; exposure to Malaysia or Thailand is highly desirable.
• A background in economic research from sell-side, buy-side, central banks, or multilateral institutions.
• Proven ability to produce independent, insightful analysis and present it to stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of regional economic dynamics.
