Job Description

ESF Explore is looking for Sports Assistants on a part-time, hourly basis.

Role

The role of a Sports Assistant (SA) is to support the Coach(es) throughout the session, ensuring health and safety while facilitating the learning of the students in a positive and inclusive environment through the delivery of ESF Explore programmes in the following sports:

  • Basketball
  • Football
  • Multi-Sports
  • Swimming

The Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Supporting the Lead Coach(es)
    • Session delivery
    • Demonstrate and supervise activities
    • Enforce coaching or activity rules
    • Setting up or tidying up equipment
    • Student pick-up and dismissal
  • Health & Safety
    • Report on Accidents & Incidents
    • Risk Assessment
      • Assist in identifying, eliminating or mitigating potential hazards
  • Administrative
    • Registration of students
    • Transferring equipment and distributing materials
Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Pleasant, friendly and approachable character
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Passionate about sports
  • Interest in coaching, teaching, and working with young children
  • Flexibility to assist after school and weekend hours

At the discretion of the Programme Manager of the respective sport, the role may include 50 hours of voluntary training, consisting of but not limited to practical exposure and experience. Voluntary training hours will be unpaid. Upon completing the minimum required number of hours successfully, under the Programme Manager's discretion, a contract will be issued eligible for the SA rate of $133 per hour .

International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme students can fulfil two CAS requirements, Activity and Service, as an SA.

Notes

  • Applicants must be a permanent Hong Kong resident or possess a valid visa to work in Hong Kong.
  • Applicants must have a bank account in their own name.
  • Applicants under the CAS programme will not be eligible for an hourly rate until after completing the required number of hours set by their respective schools/CAS coordinators.
