CAMPUS FACILITIES AND SUSTAINABILITY OFFICE
Engineer (Carbon Neutrality) (Ref. 250218006)
[to be appointed at the substantive level of Senior Facilities Officer]
Duties
The appointee will report to the Assistant Director of Campus Facilities and Sustainability or his delegates to plan and oversee the implementation of client-focused sustainability projects. He/She will be required to:
(a) identify, develop and implement sustainability initiatives and new technologies for assigned projects to achieve energy savings and sustainability goals of the University;
(b) carry out addition, alteration and improvement works, such as switchboard replacement, lift replacement/modernisation, IoT applications, security systems upgrade, electrical installations upgrade, genset replacement, LED lighting retrofit and fitting out works, retro-commissioning, etc.;
(c) monitor the progress, quality of works and performance of contractors in the implementation of the projects as well as the improvement works of building services systems and smart technology applications;
(d) liaise with internal parties, end-users, consultants and contractors for the implementation of projects, daily operation and improvement works, including tender specifications/drawings/analysis preparation, cost control, contract administration, site work supervision, testing and commissioning, facilities and projects handover;
(e) co-ordinate with end-users, main contractors and consultants in the take-over of addition, alteration and improvement works as well as prepare the associated defect lists and other documents as required;
(f) perform duties, such as site work supervision, outside normal office hours, including working on Saturdays/Sundays/public holidays when necessary; and
(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office or his delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree, preferably in Building Services, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, OR a diploma/certificate, preferably a higher diploma, in the above-mentioned disciplines with a minimum of eight years of relevant experience;
(b) have hands-on experience in building services design, installation, maintenance and/or handover for occupation, including the preparation of tender documents, issuing work orders, project management, such as site work planning/management, testing and commissioning, as well as assessment of payment applications;
(c) possess a Certificate of Registration of Electrical Worker of Grade A and a valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card) for construction sites;
(d) have highly refined communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal and external stakeholders;
(e) have strong sense of risk awareness and be a good team player;
(f) be self-motivated and able to work independently under pressure with tight work schedule; and
(g) be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
Preference will be given to those applicants who have:
(a) relevant professional qualification such as (i) Corporate Membership of BSOMES, IET, CIBSE, HKIE or an equivalent professional qualification; or (ii) RCx practitioner / RCx professional; and/or
(b) hands-on experience in managing Retro-Commissioning, central air-conditioning plant optimisation and energy-saving projects in operation and maintenance, renovation and/or new developments.

Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
