We’re looking for an experienced reporter to cover private credit across China, with the potential to become team leader. This means that as well as having a good network of on and off shore contacts (banks, corporates, credit and bond issuers, etc), great knowledge of the onshore Hong Kong and China corporate ecosystem, you will have the talent and gravitas to help other reporters with sourcing and editing. You will need to speak fluent Mandarin as well as write in English.

It would suit an experienced financial journalist who has been covering private credit, or an experienced journalist who can demonstrate a keen interest and understanding of private credit and equity.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing sources across Hong Kong and South East Asia to build up exclusive private credit coverage in the region, overlapping with special situations.
• This is one of the most exciting parts of the market right now and you will be building up the leading stand alone product in private credit story origination.
• Working with reporters around the world to develop leads and provide first-class business news as a team, this is a very collaborative organisation.

Key requirements include:

• At least 5 - 7 years’ experience as a financial journalist with knowledge/understanding/interest in private credit and contacts in the region, including local banks, investment banks, asset managers, hedge funds and private equity companies.
• Knowledge of Asia private credit and China’s onshore credit market (bonds and loans)
• Well-connected in the syndicated loan and bond markets, including origination, syndication, trading, and workout groups.
• Strong grasp of financial analysis.
• Good English language writing skills, fluency in Mandarin Chinese, and the ability to develop relationships with senior sources quickly.
