Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Regional Retail Director – Asia based in Hong Kong SAR. The Regional Retail Director will be responsible for retail operations, team management, sales, and budgeting. The role involves overseeing the day-to-day retail operations in the Asia region to drive sales and achieve operational goals.
About the Role: The Regional Retail Director, Asia, oversees all retail sales and operations across key markets including Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Australia. This role collaborates cross-functionally to shape and lead a pillar of the retail business. Key responsibilities include executing people development through coaching and training, including the development of Area Managers in respective markets. The role drives the implementation of business strategies, processes, and initiatives to maintain consistent performance across all stores. Additionally, the Regional Retail Director leverages key metrics to monitor progress towards financial and business objectives and creates and executes retail growth strategies. This role reports to the Global Head of Retail and directly oversees the management of four Area Managers.
Key Responsibilities: Commercial & Financial Management
- Develop and lead a holistic retail strategy for the region to drive sales and profitability while continuously assessing the brand's footprint to capitalize on market growth opportunities
- Monitor financial objectives, performance and implement strategies to improve profitability, manage costs, and maximize revenue
- Work cross-functionally to help drive retail initiatives while taking retail projects from ideation to completion
- Share market insights and performance metrics to senior leadership regularly
Operation
- Optimize the sales process and ensure operational excellence across all retail stores
- Regularly assess store performance and implement corrective actions as needed
- Assess key business risks and develop contingency plans
Client Experience
- Champion a customer-obsessed culture, ensuring the best-in-class customer experience across all stores, enhancing the in-store environment to reflect the brand values
- Serve as a change agent within the organization, always looking for areas where improvements in service may be needed; implement processes, procedures, and/or changes to address these issues
People Leadership
- Foster a high-performance culture by setting clear objectives and targets, measuring outcomes, and providing ongoing coaching to the market leaders
- Develop leadership capabilities within the retail organization through coaching, training, and performance management
Key Requirements:
- Proven track record of managing retail P&L
- Extensive expertise in the Asian retail landscape, with in-depth knowledge of cultural and consumer intricacies
- Ability to travel extensively across the region
- Fluent in English; additional regional language is a plus
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in retail leadership roles within the luxury retail sector
- Proven track record in driving commercial success and leading multi-market retail operations
- Strong understanding of the Asian luxury market, consumer behaviors, and retail landscape
- Exceptional leadership and team development capabilities
- Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Strong business acumen with financial and operational expertise
