Background

EDU 8339ECD Primary School Teaching: Putonghua is a 3-credit-unit distance-learning course for students of the Postgraduate Diploma in Education programme (distance-learning mode). This course is presented in Chinese (Putonghua).

This Course Aims To Facilitate Students To

  • Explain the current situation and trends of Putonghua teaching in Hong Kong;
  • Master professional knowledge and application skills of Putonghua;
  • Analyze important theories and methods of language teaching and evaluate them;
  • Discuss how language teaching theories can be applied in Putonghua teaching.

Responsibilities

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

  • Preparing a course guide;
  • Developing new course contents;
  • Developing teaching and learning materials; and
  • Developing assessment items.

Candidates

Candidates Are Expected To Possess The Following

  • A higher degree, and preferably an earned doctoral degree, in an area related to primary school education, Putonghua, or other related areas;
  • An excellent command of written Chinese, effective communication skills and the ability to work independently; and
  • Preference will be given to those who have experience in designing teaching and/or materials design at tertiary level.

Successful candidate(s) will be appointed on a freelance basis.
