Requirements:
1. a recognised degree in construction related disciplines, with professional qualification on construction safety would be an advantage;
2. a minimum of 12 years’ post-qualification experience in the field of construction, preferably related to safety with proven record in contracts management and safety management;
3. the ability to develop implementation plans and strategies, manage projects and accomplish assigned tasks independently, timely and with quality;
4. strong commitment and passion to improve for the betterment of the construction safety in Hong Kong with sound knowledge of local and international development in construction practices;
5. good networking capabilities and ability to establish strong working relationships with the government, the construction industry and other major stakeholders with the view to encouraging the industry to adopt best practices;
6. excellent organisation, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with outstanding attention to details;
7. proactive, resourceful, creative, energetic character and the ability to work independently as well as a strong team player;
8. ability to prioritize, meet tight schedule and work independently and under pressure; and
9. excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.

Duties include:
1. to promote and enhance construction safety in Hong Kong by developing and executing safety promotion activities and exploring the opportunities for safety collaboration promotion schemes with relevant stakeholders such as “Life First”, “Safety Week”, etc.
2. to promote and enhance safety performance of the industry through reviews of technical aspects of safety and to implement practical initiatives such as Design for Safety, safety alerts, guidelines on best practice, practice notes, publications, videos, etc.;
3. to provide expert advice on safety training needs by working closely with the Hong Kong Institute of Construction and other relevant stakeholders with a view to meet the expectations of the industry as well as the latest site and legal requirements;
4. to conduct research and study, including the use of innovative safety devices, construction methods and improvement measures, for enhancing construction safety performance and to maintain up-to-date knowledge on local and international developments in legislations, standards and practices related to construction safety;
5. to liaise with regulators on construction safety matters and carry out industry stakeholder engagement to understand the needs of the industry for improvement of safety performance;
6. to showcase construction innovations and technologies and to promote their beneficial use to enhance wide adoption in the industry in an appropriate manner;
7. to provide secretariat support to the Committee on Construction Safety and its sub-committees and to execute and implement their decisions as agreed with the CIC management;
8. to carry out any other duties as assigned from time to time by the Executive Director.
