Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of staff to provide safe and reliable Locomotives and Auxiliary Vehicles for the maintenance of the railway asset. Support the Works Trains operations for the construction of new railway extension. Execute engineering train formation and shunting operations for locomotives and auxiliary vehicles
• Oversee daily maintenance activities for locomotives and auxiliary vehicles in compliance with the Corporation’s safety, availability, reliability, environmental and statutory requirements in accordance with the specified standards and procedures
• Recommend and implement design changes and modifications, collaborate with T&ESD on asset renewal projects to improve efficiency and productivity through assets replacement for improving the reliability and availability
• Manage the locomotives and auxiliary vehicles in accordance with the Corporation’s asset management requirements, including the planning for long term asset replacement, conducting asset life assurance review, assessing the asset condition and capabilities, reviewing service criticality, maintenance strategy and asset management plan
• Lead and direct technical investigation of incident and ensure follow-up actions are driven for continuous improvement
• Support the preparation of budget and cost control of the section to ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness
• Provide emergency services to handle defective engineering trains and oversee rescue operation in major incidents and personally supervise to assure quick recovery in engineering trains incidents

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• A minimum of 8 years’ relevant working experience of which 2 years should be at supervisory level, with sound knowledge and skill in Locomotive and Auxiliary Vehicle or heavy vehicles maintenance and engineering work
• Possession of Corporate Membership of a recognised professional engineering institution is preferred
• Self-driven with strong management capability, excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure
