Applications are invited for appointment as Infrastructure Engineer, to commence as soon as possible, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

The appointee will join the Laboratory of Data Discovery for Health (D24H), a start-up company incorporated by The University of Hong Kong (HKU) that is led by senior faculty members of the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine at HKU, and work in a highly motivated inter-disciplinary team to develop mobile applications, cloud computing solutions or other AI-enabled computational solutions for our multiple healthcare related projects in the R&D team. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Configure, maintain, and monitor networking facilities settings to ensure the security and integrity of the network;
  • Regularly monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and implement solutions to ensure optimal network functionality;
  • Oversee the health of servers by regularly monitoring, backup, troubleshooting, and performing necessary updates or repairs to maintain system efficiency;
  • Set up and manage web applications, virtual machines (VMs) for various operational needs to ensure resource allocation and stability;
  • Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, system changes, and help-desk resolutions to support team knowledge sharing and process improvement;
  • Develop and maintain security standards and meet compliance requirements; and
  • Support different application teams and solution implementation on platforms including on-premises and Cloud such as AWS, Azure.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related disciplines;
  • Proven experience in network and system administration;
  • Hands-on experience with firewall configuration, network troubleshooting, and virtual machine setup;
  • Experience with cloud-to-on-premise migrations and hybrid environments;
  • Knowledge of Hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) and virtualisation platforms;
  • Familiar with best practices on infrastructure related;
  • Good knowledge of Linux operating systems & K8s;
  • Familiar data center operations;
  • Familiar with monitoring and performance management tools; and
  • Experience in Cloud platform administration such as Azure, AWS, would be an added advantage.

Applicants with more experience or higher qualification may be considered for appointment as Senior Infrastructure Engineer.
