Under moderate supervision, the Underwriting Assistant supports the underwriting team in providing efficient and accurate handling of the administrative, system and technical aspects of the underwriting process. It is responsible for the timely and accurate entry of submissions, policy and endorsement issuance, booking premium, and adherence to attestation and underwriting guidelines in file administration.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensuring Underwriters are provided with administrative support, including but not limited to responding to telephone inquiries or dealing with general enquiries.
• Logging and clearing submissions, policy/endorsement issuance in a timely manner.
• Data Entry into GENIUS and Workbench underwriting system;
• Ensuring internal & external correspondence is completed both accurately and promptly
• Underwriting file creation and maintenance;
• Ensuring premium payments are received and discrepancies investigated in a timely manner by referring to Debtors report from Finance department;
• Maintaining a highly effective and responsive working relationship with all internal and external stakeholders.
• Prioritizing work commitments ensuring daily workflows are managed effectively.
• Ensuring compliance with all legal, statutory and corporate affairs requirements on a timely basis.
• Performing other related duties as assigned by direct manager or other appropriate officer.
