ActusRayPartners is a fast-growing hedge fund / emerging asset management company with strong performance. Founded in late 2019 by former Macquarie Bank colleagues, the firm commenced operations in early 2021 and currently has a team of ~30. The firm is headquartered in Hong Kong and also has a presence in Sydney, Australia.


ActusRayPartners has a collaboration agreement with Sun Hung Kai & Co. Limited, a Hong Kong listed financial services company (86.HK). We co-locate in their headquarters providing a Grade A working environment.


The Firm’s underlying clients include a regional government reserve fund, globally well-known financial institutions, pension (ERISA) funds, private banks, and family offices in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.


ActusRayPartners’ investment process, called Discretionary Probabilistic Investing, combines a quantitative base with a highly differentiated discretionary overlay. Currently, the firm offers absolute return “hedge fund” products investing in listed equity markets across Asia and Europe. Plans include developing other products and investing globally.


In 2021, ActusRayPartners was nominated as 1 of 50 “Tomorrow’s Titans” by the hedge fund journal. The firm’s European strategy has been nominated for performance awards in every complete year since inception (winning in 2023 and 2024) and the Asian strategy won a performance award in its first full year, 2024.

Job Description:


With continued business growth, ActusRayPartners is seeking a Compliance Officer / Manager to join their Investment Services team.


By background we run hedge funds covering the Asian and European time zones and are likely to expand into the Americas. We also plan to run long-only versions of our work at some stage.We are licensed with the SFC and are an RIA with the SEC. Also, by virtue of obligations in an SMA with a UK client, we also need to meet many FCA requirements. As such, this role provides an unusual level of diversity and international exposure.

Responsibilities include:


  • Provide timely assistance and expertise on all compliance matters and ad hoc compliance requests in relation to the different markets in which ARP operates and/or aim to expend its activities into;
  • Provide assistance and expertise on AML/KYC and due diligence matters for new and existing clients;
  • Understand and assist with compliance obligations with respect to global marketing;
  • Monitor, review, update and assist with the implementation of regulatory and legislative changes, including but not limited to SFC, SEC, CFTC, CIMA, fund 40Act, UCITS obligations, Asian and European regulations;
  • Identify, manage and control compliance, regulatory and reputational risks through reviews and improvement of ARP Compliance policies and procedures;
  • Assist in internal and external audits and coordinate control testing with our Compliance Consultants;
  • Actively participate in the Compliance Committee including coordinating and preparing packs, minutes and other documents;
  • Assist with and ensure required regulatory notifications and report submissions are completed on a timely basis;
  • Investigate potential compliance incidents or breaches in conjunction with various internal and external parties;
  • Conduct training on rules and regulations as well as promotion of compliance awareness and culture, where needed; and
  • Project manage key compliance projects and ad hoc requests;


Day-to-day compliance monitoring in line with existing ARP Compliance policies and procedures, including but not limited to personal account dealing, gifts and entertainment, conflicts management, continuous professional training, outside business interest, etc.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, legal background preferred;
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant compliance experience. More senior candidates may be considered for the role of Compliance Manager;
  • Previous experience in hedge funds or asset management is strongly preferred;
  • Sound knowledge of SFC rules required. Knowledge in other APAC and Global regions regulations would be a plus;
  • Strong skills and experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe PDF;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
