Project Title:
ANR/RGC: Language Contact and Areal Diffusion of Sinitic Languages in the Greater Bay Area

[Appointment Period: 6 months]

The appointee will work on the France-Hong Kong collaborated project “Language Contact and Areal Diffusion of Sinitic Languages in the Greater Bay Area”, led by Dr. Wang Cong and funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) and the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong Joint Research Scheme.

The main duties include conducting background study and literature review, editing, designing research instruments, as well as collecting and analyzing data/related information. He/she will also assist in report/journal article writing, grant applications, and any other research-related tasks assigned by the supervisor. The appointment will initially be for a period of 6 months, with the possibility of renewal subject to mutual agreement.

Applicants should have at least Level 2 or equivalent or above in five subjects including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics in HKDSE; or Grade E (Level 2) or above in five subjects including Chinese, English (Syllabus B) and Mathematics in HKCEE or equivalent, preferably with a Master’s degree in Chinese Language or linguistics. Candidates should also possess extensive experience in language fieldwork, strong analytical skills, an excellent command of written and spoken English, high proficiency in reading and writing Chinese, and good interpersonal skills. Preference will be given to applicants who are native speakers of Cantonese and Tanka.
