RUN is a Hong Kong-based nonprofit that supports vulnerable refugees to rebuild their mental and physical strength, unite across differences as a community, and nurture self-reliance for a more hopeful future. With sports as the springboard and education as the foundation, we work towards a resilient and empowered refugee community in Hong Kong and beyond.
We are looking to hire a full time Sports Development Manager to lead and coordinate weekly sports activities.
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Programme Development and Management
- Lead the design, implementation and management of inclusive sports programmes tailored to the needs and interests of refugees and asylum seekers, including:
- Weekly women-only Hiking to Heal programme (Tuesday morning);
- Weekly mixed-gender Track Training programme (Thursday evening);
- Weekly children’s sports programme for 2-14 year olds (Monday after school);
- Advanced hiking and training on the Hong Kong trails (Ad hoc);
- Children’s Summer Programme (Tuesday/Thursday from July-August).
- Develop structured training plans, schedules, and resources for all sports activities at RUN that promote physical fitness, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Accompany RUN participants to local races (with occasional weekends required);
- Manage volunteers and sports coaches to support the Sport Programme;
- Organise volunteer and participant sign-up for all sport activities;
- Coordinate childcare to enable participants to attend sessions;
- Manage, organise and distribute sports gear as needed.
Team Leadership
- Ensure all programs align with RUN Hong Kong’s mission and values;
- Collaborate with other RUN staff to ensure personal wellbeing of participants;
- Foster a welcoming and supportive environment for participants from diverse backgrounds;
- Positively recruit, train, and supervise a team of coaches, volunteers, and staff members involved in the delivery of sports programmes;
- Develop relationships with sports clubs and organisations to enhance programme offerings and collaborations;
- Promote the benefits of sports and physical activity for refugees and asylum seekers through community events, workshops, and participant engagement.
Community Events and Engagement
- Support the organisation of RUN's annual trail race;
- Build and maintain relationships with local refugee and asylum seeker communities, NGOs, and stakeholders;
- Organise outreach initiatives to increase participation in sports programmes, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
- Develop and implement evaluation tools to assess the impact and effectiveness of sports programmes;
- Collect and analyse feedback from participants and stakeholders to inform programme improvements;
- Prepare reports and presentations on programme outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
Fundraising and Grant Management
- Assist the Fundraising Team to identify funding opportunities and write grant proposals to support the Sports Programme;
- Manage the Sport Programme budgets and ensure financial accountability in line with organisational policies.
Requirements :
- Work experience in Sports Management, Community Development, Social Work, or a related field;
- Strong commitment to social justice and inclusion;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse communities and work with the wider RUN team;
- Demonstrated experience and comfort in working with vulnerable populations, including refugees and asylum seekers;
- Strong sensitivity to psychological and social challenges, with an innate ability to understand and respond to individuals' emotional needs;
- Interest in sport (with a familiarity with Hong Kong trails a benefit);
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines;
- Strong team player, able to show initiative and leadership within a multicultural environment;
- Must have the right to work in Hong Kong.
