Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Head of Financial Lines Hong Kong as part of our Financial Lines team in our APAC.

Our Financial Lines APAC team offers capabilities to underwrite across different industries. We work through a network of retail and wholesale brokers, along with our local commercial team in the region to build a sustainable and long-term value proposition.

What you’ll be doing:

• Establish and build a sustainable portfolio of profitable Financial Lines business in HK.
• Contribute to the profitable growth of Financial Lines APAC portfolio.
• Conduct broker and client meetings including presentations as required
• Provide input and feedback at the weekly underwriting meetings.
• Develop Financial Lines products for HK in line with the APAC region and Global Financial Lines’ overall product strategy and guidelines.
• Creates and utilize marketing materials and other product collateral to support marketing and production initiatives.
• Develop a broker and distribution plan for each assigned producer/territory; and manage the relationship in terms of analysis, catch up meetings and entertainment.
• Full and thorough underwriting of all accounts in accordance with underwriting guidelines and individual authority granted by management.
• Monitoring all industry and specific account trends. Implementing a field service reputation that is recognized as superior in the industry.
• Experience in portfolio management of a product within Financial Lines.

What you’ll bring:

• Bachelor’s Degree minimum
• Minimum 10 years underwriting experience
• Ability to speak multiple languages / dialect will be an added advantage
• Experience in underwriting and have technical knowledge of underwriting at least one Financial Lines products
• Ability to build relationship with local business partners
• Self-starter with initiative to solve problem and make decisions.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
