Responsibilities

• Lead a team of staff with non-destructive test (NDT) qualification to ensure the established standards of permanent way inspections are achieved in a safe, quality and cost effective manner
• Oversee the performance and condition of permanent way inspection machines including Ultrasonic Testing Vehicle (UTV), Track Geometry & Overhead Line Vehicle (TOV) ,Track Recording Car (TRC) and Video Track Inspection systems, in carrying out the rail defects identification, track geometry and rail corrugation measurements for all railway lines, as well as liaise with the machine maintainer regarding machine replacement, maintenance and repair matters
• Provide professional investigation and analysis on rail defects and conduct assessment on different kinds of track data provided by the manual NDT and inspection machines, as well as develop inspection strategies and instructions in accordance with relevant international standards
• Manage internal audit for permanent way maintenance, renewal and modification works on operational railway to ensure compliance with the established standards and proposal of good practice alignment
• Source and implement innovation, new technology and automation to achieve long term permanent way asset performance and efficiency improvement

Requirements

• Degree in Civil / Mechanical or a related engineering discipline
• A minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience, of which 2 years should be at supervisory level
• Possession of NDT Level 3 qualification or Corporate Membership of a recognised professional institution is an advantage
• Proactive attitude, strong analytical, decision making, communication and people management skills
