Job Description: Computer Science Teacher

Contract Type: Full-time

Start Date: August 2025

 

Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Computer Science Teacher to join our Computer Science Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the Cambridge syllabus from Key Stage 3 through to A-Level. This role offers an exciting opportunity to inspire students and foster a love for technology and programming.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery: Teach Computer Science across Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A-Level (depending upon experience and teaching background), ensuring adherence to the Cambridge syllabus 
  • Lesson Planning: Develop engaging and innovative lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Design assessments, provide constructive feedback, and track student progress to ensure academic success.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest developments in computer science education and pedagogy, participating in ongoing professional development.
  • Parental Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and areas for improvement.
  • Extra-Curricular Activities: Contribute to the development of extra-curricular programmes related to computer science, such as coding clubs or competitions.

 

Requirements

  • Qualifications: A degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with a recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent).
  • Experience: Previous experience teaching the Cambridge syllabus is highly desirable.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible manner.
  • Passion for Education: A genuine enthusiasm for teaching and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
  • IT Proficiency: Strong understanding of programming languages and software development tools relevant to the curriculum.
