Construction Project Director - Mega Project

About the Role:  We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Project Director to join our client's team for a large-scale construction mega project. As a recruitment consultant engaged by an international main contractor, we are looking for a candidate who can lead and manage all aspects of the project, ensuring successful delivery within the stipulated time and budget.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate both financial and non-financial resources; ensure project deliverables are integrated with engineering plans.
  • Oversee programme management, adhere to deadlines, and manage the budget.
  • Provide progress reports against the plan and costs, manage risks, and develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Align the goals, responsibilities, and tasks of team members across various functions and departments to the project's common objectives.
  • Set targets across multiple project parameters (such as revenue, project profitability, unapproved revenues, underclaims, project milestones/schedules, safety, cash flow) and monitor these until completion.
  • Formulate a strategy for identifying, evaluating, and selecting sub-contractors/consultants/suppliers based on project requirements; utilise your network to identify suitable partners for the project.
  • Hold regular client meetings to discuss project progress, anticipate needs, build trust, and proactively resolve issues collaboratively.
  • Exhibit leadership in workplace SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) and foster a strong team spirit.

 

Qualifications:

  • Possess a degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 20 years of relevant experience in delivering major construction projects.
  • Experience with NEC (New Engineering Contract) is desirable.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills and decision-making abilities.
  • Membership or affiliation with recognised industry bodies or institutes is desirable.
  • Core language skills in English & Cantonese required, additional skills in Mandarin would be highly advantageous.
