With a focus on the Asia Pacific region, we invest in high-growth companies, leveraging operational expertise and strategic insight to deliver superior returns. We are seeking a Vice President of Strategy and Operations to join the client's APAC team, bringing deep financial acumen and operational leadership to enhance our investment strategy and portfolio performance.

Job Overview:

The Vice President, Strategy and Operations will play a critical role in shaping and executing the firm’s investment and operational strategies across the Asia Pacific region. This role requires a seasoned professional with a strong finance and accounting background, ideally complemented by experience in private equity, strategy consulting, or operational leadership. The VP will partner with investment teams, portfolio company management, and external stakeholders to drive value creation, optimize financial performance, and ensure operational excellence. This position demands a blend of analytical rigor, strategic thinking, and hands-on execution in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives for portfolio companies in APAC, focusing on revenue growth, cost optimization, and operational scalability.
  • Financial Analysis & Oversight: Leverage finance and accounting expertise to conduct in-depth financial modeling, due diligence, and performance analysis to identify value creation opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Portfolio Management: Partner with portfolio company leadership to design and execute operational improvement plans, including budgeting, forecasting, and KPI development, ensuring alignment with investment theses.
  • Deal Support: Support deal teams during the investment lifecycle, from target evaluation and structuring to post-acquisition integration, with a focus on financial and operational drivers.
  • Regional Leadership: Act as a key liaison between the U.S. headquarters and APAC operations, providing insights into regional market dynamics, regulatory environments, and cultural nuances impacting investments.
  • Team Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of analytical excellence and operational discipline within the APAC team.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with portfolio company executives, co-investors, and external advisors to drive collaboration and achieve strategic objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CPA highly preferred.
  • Experience:
  • 8-12 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 4-6 years in private equity, strategy consulting (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain), or a senior operational role within a corporate environment.
  • Proven track record of working with C-suite executives and driving financial and operational improvements in a fast-paced setting.
  • Exposure to the Asia Pacific region (e.g., China, Southeast Asia, India, Japan, or Australia) through direct work experience or deal execution strongly preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and accounting principles (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
  • Expertise in operational metrics, cost management, and performance benchmarking.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, data analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and Excel is a must.
  • Regional Knowledge: Understanding of APAC market trends, regulatory frameworks, and business practices in private equity or related industries.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse cultures and time zones.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel extensively across the APAC region (up to 50%) as needed to support portfolio companies and deal activities.
  • Language: Fluency in English required; proficiency in an additional APAC language (e.g., Mandarin, Japanese, Korean) is a plus.
