Reporting to Chief Medical and Scientific Officer, the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage algorithms and pipelines for analysing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data in the Scientific Branch
Design protocols for genomic analysis and data management for projects under the theme of “Genomics & Precision Health” of the Hong Kong Genome Project
Assist genome curators in the Scientific Branch with their daily genomic analytic operations, including optimising and streamlining analytic pipelines for variant interpretation and visualisation for clinical applications
Perform any other duties assigned by senior officers
Requirements:
We are seeking a high-calibre candidate for the post of Genomic Analyst who possesses:
A master’s degree or above in genomics, computer science, bioinformatics or related disciplines
At least 3 years’ experience in analysing whole genome sequencing datasets
Familiarity with publicly available human genomic resources, e.g. NCBI, Ensembl, ClinVar, UCSC and other open-source resources
Proficiency in working in Unix/Linux environment; formal training and experience with coding (e.g. Python, Perl, R)
Familiarity with variant calling from short read datasets, including copy number variant and structural variant
Experience in the analysis of cancer genomes, single-cell sequencing and long-read sequencing data would be an advantage
Experience in NGS analytic pipeline management would be an advantage
Office Location: Hong Kong Science Park, Shatin
Remuneration: Successful candidate will be offered attractive remuneration and be appointed on an initial two-year contract (subject to mutual agreement for contract renewal).
