Genomic Analyst - Expired
Reporting to Chief Medical and Scientific Officer, the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage algorithms and pipelines for analysing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data in the Scientific Branch
- Design protocols for genomic analysis and data management for projects under the theme of “Genomics & Precision Health” of the Hong Kong Genome Project
- Assist genome curators in the Scientific Branch with their daily genomic analytic operations, including optimising and streamlining analytic pipelines for variant interpretation and visualisation for clinical applications
- Perform any other duties assigned by senior officers
We are seeking a high-calibre candidate for the post of Genomic Analyst who possesses:
- A master’s degree or above in genomics, computer science, bioinformatics or related disciplines
- At least 3 years’ experience in analysing whole genome sequencing datasets
- Familiarity with publicly available human genomic resources, e.g. NCBI, Ensembl, ClinVar, UCSC and other open-source resources
- Proficiency in working in Unix/Linux environment; formal training and experience with coding (e.g. Python, Perl, R)
- Familiarity with variant calling from short read datasets, including copy number variant and structural variant
- Experience in the analysis of cancer genomes, single-cell sequencing and long-read sequencing data would be an advantage
- Experience in NGS analytic pipeline management would be an advantage
Office Location: Hong Kong Science Park, Shatin
Remuneration:
Successful candidate will be offered attractive remuneration and be appointed on an initial two-year contract (subject to mutual agreement for contract renewal).
