Technical Officer in the Department of Chemistry (Ref.: 531420) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. or M.Phil. degree in Chemistry with at least three years of relevant experience in synthetic laboratories. They should have in-depth knowledge and extensive experience in designing and preparing undergraduate experiments. A strong preference will be given to those who are skilled in handling air-sensitive reactions and quenching chemicals in a synthetic laboratory. Familiarity with analytical chemistry, particularly hands-on experience with various types of Mass Spectrometers, Chromatography, will be considered a significant advantage.
Applicants should have a good command of both English and Chinese (including Putonghua). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for collaborating with students, faculty, and staff. They should be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a safe and efficient laboratory environment.
The appointee will be responsible for designing and modifying synthetic experiments, preparing chemicals, materials, and standards for undergraduate and taught postgraduate laboratories, as well as for outreach events. They will also assist in the design and operation of analytical chemistry experiments in teaching laboratories and perform any other duties as assigned.
