Requirement:

  1. hold a Certificate of Competency (Deck Officer / Marine Engineer Officer) (Seagoing) Class 3 or above issued by the Director of Marine, or equivalent;
  2. have good command of written Chinese and English, meet the language proficiency requirements of Level 3# or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent, and be fluent in English and Cantonese;
  3. be proficient in common computer applications and operations including Microsoft Word, Excel Spreadsheet and mail merge as well as Chinese word processing;
  4. possesses good organisation, communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently and effectively under tight schedule; and
  5. be permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of engagement.

# For appointment purpose, 'Grade C' and 'Grade E' in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to 'Level 3' and 'Level 2' respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.

Duties:

  • to provide support, especially in technical aspects, and assist in liaising with relevant parties, including service providers, tertiary institutions, maritime industry players and trade associations in manpower development projects and promotion programmes of maritime careers to young people;
  • to provide executive and logistics support in relation to the administration of the schemes of Maritime and Aviation Training Fund (“MATF”) as well as implementation of enhancement measures of various schemes under MATF;
  • to assist in handling ad hoc maritime-related matters including conducting background research on topical issues, drafting replies, keeping proper track of file records and follow-up with government departments, industry stakeholders and concerned parties relating to port development projects; and
  • to perform office administration and other management and support duties.
