The Department

The Public Affairs (Corporate and Charities Communications) Department provides a full range of corporate and charities communications functions to the Club including the formulation of communication strategy, issue management, non-racing media relations; corporate and charity information and overall publicity; as well as organisation of PR programmes and projects.

Support the Deputy Executive Manager and Senior Manager, Charities Communications to formulate and implement communication strategies to drive holistic strategic publicity for Charities leveraging the Trust's six priority areas and also the Institute of Philanthropy. Also to maximise positive publicity for the overall charitable efforts of the Club. In addition, the Public Affairs Manager will be responsible for providing counsel on public affairs and issues management for the Charities team, and will also undertake ad-hoc tasks as assigned from time to time.

The Job

You will:

  • Assist in formulating holistic communication strategies to maximise the Club's charitable efforts and its strategic initiatives, and to enhance the positive image and visibility of the Club/Trust with media and the general public.
    • Devise holistic publicity campaigns, key messages and materials to further advance the goal to highlight the Club's charitable efforts;
    • Coordinate with Charites team to develop content and provide in-depth counsel to achieve the team's goal; and
    • Work closely with internal teams to develop content that contributes to a positive brand image.
  • Assist to lead the day-to-day media relations and publicity campaigns and cultivate relationship with media and external stakeholders.
    • Proactively generate new ideas and opportunities to support the team in carrying out its task to maximise positive publicity for the Club;
    • Engage with media and external audience to ensure corporate messages are conveyed properly;
    • Monitor and evaluate the Club's charities projects under the six priority areas and identify opportunities and potential risks; and
    • Oversee the review of communication materials, like press releases, media and promotion plans from Charities teams.
  • Assist to oversee the preparation of press materials and related communication content.
    • Create and review materials with Charities team while ensuring corporate messages are aligned;
    • Develop and produce compelling content in written, visual and video formats for use in multiple Communication channels including but not limited to website, social media, events, etc.
  • Assist to manage issues, handle enquiries, and develop line-to-take for different charity projects.
    • Assess and evaluate the Club's charities projects and identify opportunities and assesses any potential risks;
    • Draft and develop plan including messaging, QAs in view for issues and crisis scenarios; and
    • Support crisis communications.
  • Handle ad-hoc projects as assigned by team head.

About You

You should have:

  • University degree in a related discipline or relevant qualification, with a minimum of 8 years' experience
  • Strong media network and relationship
  • Excellent English and Chinese language skills in both verbal and writing skills
  • Solid market sense and business acumen, able to identify market trends, public affairs issues
  • Independent and self-driven, able to work efficiently and under pressure on multiple projects
  • Excellent written (English and Chinese) and verbal communication skills
