Salary: Disciplined Services (Rank and File) Pay Scale Point 3 ($24,070) to Disciplined Services (Rank and File) Pay Scale Point 16 ($36,270) per month.
Entry Requirements: (1)(a) have Level 2 or equivalent [(Note a)] or above in three subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or equivalent; or (b) have Level 2 [(Note b)]/Grade E or above in three subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent;
(2)have completed apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical, electronic or automobile engineering plus 4 years’ experience in relevant trade;
(3)have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 [(Note b)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent;
(4)be able to pass a trade test of his/her trade; and
(5)have a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test.
【Note:(i)The three subjects in (1) above may include Chinese Language and English Language; (ii)By the closing day of the application period (i.e. 20 March 2025), applicants must possess the relevant academic qualifications and experience in relevant trade. (iii)Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview and/or trade test; (iv)Possessing an automobile engineering certificate from a Hong Kong polytechnic/polytechnic university or the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education/technical college/technical institute, or equivalent is an advantage; and (v)Possessing a valid Hong Kong driving licence is an advantage.】
Note:
(a)For civil service appointment purpose, “Attained with Distinction” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade C in Other Language subjects in HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 3 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in HKDSEE. “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade E in Other Language subjects in HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in HKDSEE.
(b)For civil service appointment purpose, Grade C and Grade E in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to Level 3 and Level 2 respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(c)By the closing date of the application period (i.e. 20 March 2025), applicants must possess the relevant academic qualifications and experience in relevant trade.
(d)Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the recruiting department may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the selection interview and/or trade test.
(e)All applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their knowledge of the Basic Law and the National Security Law. A pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test is an entry requirement for all civil service jobs. Only those candidates who have passed the Basic Law and National Security Law Test will be considered for appointment. Duties: A Fireman/Firewoman (Workshops) is mainly deployed on (a)testing, inspecting and repairing vehicle mechanical system like the engine, gearbox, braking system, hydraulic system, electrical and electronic system, air conditioning system, etc of fire appliance and rescue equipment; and (b)carrying out modification work, vehicle recovery and other relevant jobs assigned.
(Note: The test, inspection or repair work may need to be carried out at the scene of emergency incidents, e.g. fire, civil disturbance or other calamity, or at any locations where the Fire Services appliances or equipment have broken down or in need of relevant servicing.)

Terms of Appointment: (1)New recruits will be appointed on prevailing probationary terms for 3 years and may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms upon satisfactory completion of the probationary period. (2)Before passage of probation bar, appointees should (a)pass an examination at the conclusion of the Foundation Training Course; and (b)subject to satisfactory completion of service, fulfilment of the requirements of the grade and service need.
