Assistant IT Manager . This key role will directly impact the learning experience of our students and the efficiency of our staff by ensuring seamless technology integration and reliable IT support. The Assistant IT Manager reports directly to the ICT Manager and is a vital member of the ICT team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Helpdesk Support and Training: Provide technical support for hardware and software issues and create user training materials.
- Vendor Management: Work with vendors to implement and maintain IT solutions, ensuring they meet school needs.
- Application Support: Maintain existing school applications, including updates and security configurations.
- Inventory Management: Track IT equipment and software licenses to ensure compliance and optimize resources.
- Issue Monitoring: Continuously monitor the IT infrastructure for potential problems and report issues to the ICT Manager.
- Project Assistance: Help plan and execute IT infrastructure projects, working collaboratively with the team.
- Security Practices: Implement security measures for MS Entra and Active Directory, including audits and staff training.
- Documentation: Keep technical documents updated, including network diagrams and troubleshooting guides.
- Budget Support: Assist the ICT Manager in preparing the annual budget and track expenses.
- Mentorship: Mentor junior team members to enhance their technical skills and support their development.
Qualifications And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of IT experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role within an educational setting (preferred).
- Proven experience managing and mentoring a team of IT professionals.
- Proven experience managing user accounts, group policies, and security settings within MS Entra and Active Directory. Experience with Azure AD Connect is a plus.
- Strong understanding of IT security best practices, including vulnerability management and incident response.
- Experience with helpdesk ticketing systems and providing technical support
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant software applications (e.g. SchoolsBuddy, Destiny)
- Excellent communication skills in English and Cantonese.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, CCNP, ITIL 4, Project Management certifications) are highly desirable.
- A commitment to working within a Christian values-based environment is preferred.
