Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a leading International Bank, located in Hong Kong SAR. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented L2 Trade Surveillance Consultant to join our client’s compliance team. In this role, you will take on greater responsibilities in monitoring trading activities, conducting in-depth analyses, and investigating compliance issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in trade surveillance and a proven ability to identify potential market abuse and regulatory violations.


Key Responsibilities


  •  Analyse and monitor trading activities to detect patterns indicative of market manipulation, insider trading, and other compliance violations.
  • Conduct comprehensive investigations of alerts generated by surveillance systems, providing detailed documentation of findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with L1 analysts and other compliance teams to ensure effective follow-up on escalated issues and suspicious activities.
  • Prepare and present clear, concise reports for management and regulatory bodies regarding findings and action plans.
  • Stay current on industry regulations, trends, and best practices, ensuring the organization’s compliance framework is up to date.
  • Enhance surveillance methodologies and tools by providing insights based on investigation outcomes and market trends.
  • Mentor and train junior analysts, supporting their professional development and promoting a knowledge-sharing culture within the team.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, CFE) are a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in trade surveillance using SMARTS, compliance, or a related role within the financial services industry.
  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial markets, trading practices, and relevant regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present findings to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software, including Excel, and surveillance systems SMARTS.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.
