About this job:

We are looking to hire a Life and Health Pricing Actuary to join our growing team in Hong Kong, reporting to the Head of Pricing, Japan & Korea. In this role you will be responsible for the pricing of life reinsurance treaties and support the product development primarily for the Japan market .

About the team:

The regional pricing team is responsible for the pricing of Life & Health business written in the Asia Pacific region. Across these markets we write group and individual protection business, both in short and in long-term lines.

About the role:

In detail your responsibilities will include:

• Performing and documenting the pricing of quotes across responsible markets while ensuring compliance to internal standards, thorough risk assessment and application of best practice
• Performing peer review on quotations to ensure accuracy of financial results
• Collaborating with a cross-functional team of professionals from client markets and underwriting towards assessing the risks associated with a particular opportunity and ensure the sustainability of the business written.
• Contributing to the development of market specific reinsurance solutions and products
• Developing, enhancing and maintaining pricing benchmarks, tools and efficient methods of carrying out existing processes
  
  

About you:

You are looking to accelerate the development of your actuarial career. You have the ability and courage to constructively challenge business propositions whilst being business minded and solution oriented. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, capable of explaining complex technical issues in a simple way.

You enjoy collaborating with your colleagues as well as working on your own. Your preference is to be part of an international and multicultural environment, handling diverse tasks, yet always ready to serve the team and meet the business needs.

You have the following background, skills and mindset:

• Recently or nearly qualified Life Actuary (FIA or equivalent) with
  around 8 years of experience in life insurance (preferably in pricing/data analytics)
• Good understanding of key industry issues and trends, local regulations and market practices; experience in the Japan market is a plus.
• Fluent English speaker with Japanese language skills is desirable.
• Ability to analyse big data sets, identify key insights and provide recommendations. Critical Illness pricing experience is a plus
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical issues in an effective way
• Self-motivated, holds oneself accountable and takes ownership for problem resolution, able to prioritize under pressure of competing deadlines
• Proficiency in programming languages and actuarial software (R / Python / Axis / Prophet / SQL) is advantageous
