Job Summary:

Strategy at HKEX is responsible for developing, incubating and overseeing the delivery of key strategic initiatives across the firm. The team works hand-in-hand with internal and external partners across a spectrum of initiatives, including product and business development, strategic market-facing projects, collaboration with other exchanges and market participants, and expansion into complementary and new lines of business.

The role presents a unique opportunity for a highly commercial and analytical candidate with a desire to contribute to the regional and global financial markets. Experience in exchanges, strategy, corporate finance or business development is strongly preferred. Capital markets or market infrastructure experience is a plus.

Job Duties:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner with multiple HKEX Divisions on assessing, incubating and implementing strategic initiatives
  • Lead and drive strategic projects together with various teams across different asset classes covering trading and post-trade areas
  • Seek, and assess potential merger, acquisition, investment and external partnership opportunities which may be relevant for HKEX
  • Actively participate in and support strategic idea generation for HKEX
  • Prepare position papers and present recommendations to senior management
  • Co-ordinate and deliver research and analysis on topical issues affecting HKEX’s business
  • Prepare for and attending meetings with business / government / regulator counterparts
  • Support Head of Group Strategy to drive talent management and continuous improvement within the team

Requirements:

  • University degree, preferably in Finance / Economics / Business Administration or related disciplines
  • 15+ years of experience in an exchange, strategy, corporate finance or business development type role preferred
  • Ambitious and highly motivated self-starter
  • Excellent commercial awareness and financial literacy
  • High level of interest and relevant experiences in the global capital markets
  • Demonstrated track record in leading and driving large scale, complex and cross divisional projects successfully
  • Ability to collaborate, manage and influence stakeholders across HKEX
  • Seriously high calibre written and spoken presentation skills
  • Good command of written and spoken English; Mandarin and Cantonese would be a plus
