We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Science and Technology:

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will mainly assist the research team in a research project “Establishment of Platform for Research and Omics Training in Environmental Analysis (PROTEA) in the Department of Applied Science, S&T” (R6660).  He / She will be responsible mainly for the following:

  • Conducting various experiments in the science laboratory and field sites;
  • Conducting analysis on samples collected from field sites;
  • Working with the Principal Investigator / supervisors to prepare report writing;
  • Developing training materials and mentoring junior staff and research students; and
  • Conducting other research activities as instructed by the Principal Investigator / supervisors.

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

  • A doctorate degree in Bioinformatics / Environmental Science / Chemistry / Molecular Biology / Biochemistry / Microbiology or a related discipline (for Postdoc); 
  • A Master's degree or above in the above mentioned disciplines (for Research Assistant I);
  • A record of publications in peer-reviewed journals;
  • Research experience in omics / cell biology / environmental monitoring is preferred;
  • Strong sense of responsibility, effective organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Very good command of English and Chinese; and
  • Preference will be given to those with technical experiences in environmental omics / mass spectrometry / flow-cytometer / flow injection analyzer.

Hands-on experience in (meta)genomics or (meta)transcriptomics analysis using R, Python, and other bioinformatics analysis tools, with related publications in the capacity of first-author, is essential for the Postdoc position. Candidate without a PhD but with extensive experience in bioinformatics analysis will also be considered for the Research Assistant I position (related first-author publication is an advantage).
