Job Description

• Assist in operations of animal facility, these may include:
• Animal husbandry and welfare in the assigned area
• Maintain records of colonies and experiments
• General facility housekeeping to maintain a safe, clean and orderly environment
• Manage inventory and coordinate with service providers for purchases, deliveries, and collections
• Assist in quality assurance
• Creation and maintenance of quality documents
• Monitoring of animal health status and macro/micro environmental conditions
• Compliance: animal licenses and animal ethics approvals
• Provide technical support to animal research projects
• Procedural training and proficiency evaluation for staff and students
• Assist researchers in project planning and performing animal procedures
• Perform other job-related duties and ad hoc tasks as assigned
  
  
  

Job Requirements

• Applicants should have a Bachelor’s/higher degree in biological/biomedical sciences/microbiology or a related subject
• At least 2 years’ relevant experience working with laboratory rodents, skilled in procedures including sampling, substance administration, anaesthesia, and simple surgeries.
• Good communication skills in English and Chinese
• Self-motivated, able to work independently with good time-management skills
• High sense of responsibility and teamwork
• Meticulous attention to quality and detail, can follow established procedures and record work accurately
• Undertake continuous training; and available for occasion shift duty for weekend/holidays
• Applicants with work experience in Animal Biosafety Level 2/3 or gnotobiotic laboratory are preferred.
  
  
  

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one to two years commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.

Work location are in Prince of Wales Hospital & Hong Kong Science and Technology Park
