Finance Manager (Accounting and Budgeting Section) – Financial Accounting and Capital Projects (23241258)
Responsibilities:
- Support the Senior Manager in the month-end and annual closing processes, delivering monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports; coordinating with finance teams, auditors, and other external regulatory authorities;
- Oversee recording, tracking and auditing of fixed assets, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and handling asset capitalization, depreciation and disposal processes;
- Collaborate with system and other finance teams to provide value-added, accurate and timely reporting and capital project information, ensuring adherence to accounting standards;
- Coordinate and manage the preparation and submission of regulatory reports to governmental bodies such as University Grants Committee;
- Supportbudgeting and forecasting process and work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze variances and provide insights and recommendations;
- Review and streamline accounting procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy in fixed assets and project accounting operations;
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and oversee budgetary control and participate in digital transformation projects and process improvement initiatives; and
- Handle ad hoc tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
- A degree holder with membership of a recognised professional accounting body;
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in financial and project accounting, preferably within universities, NGOs or sizeable organisations;
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles; detail-oriented, independent, responsible and proactive in seeking solutions;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English and Chinese (Cantonese and preferably Putonghua);
- Strong analytical skills and collaboration abilities; proficiency in computer software such as Oracle, Hyperion, Power BI; and
- Prior working experience in audit firms will be an advantage.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a proficiency test.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract for two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
