NORD ANGLIA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, HONG KONG is looking to recruit a HEAD OF SECONDARY MUSIC to join our Secondary team, to drive excellent teaching and learning in the subject of Music.

The role:

We seek a qualified Head of Secondary Music to join our thriving and dynamic team across our outstanding and award-winning International Secondary School where your focus will be:

  • To provide professional leadership for the Music provision, and secure high-quality teaching, effective use of resources, and high standards of learning & achievement for all students.
  • To fulfil the school’s mission statement by delivering high quality education to our students, ensuring that planning, preparation, recording, assessment, and reporting meet their varying learning, social, and welfare needs.
  • Work in partnership with teachers, students and parents to secure the best outcomes possible for every learner.
  • Maintain and raise standards where required and monitor and support student progress in all phases of the Secondary provision.
  • Connect to our vision to create a generation of resilient and creative global citizens, who will change our world for the better
  • Inspire and motivate our students to succeed

The Successful Candidate will possess:

  • Qualified to Bachelor of Education or appropriate Degree with PGCE in relevant Music subject
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Qualified teacher with experience teaching in a UK and/or international environment
  • Music Training or similar qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years’ teaching experiences
  • Knowledge of the English National Curriculum and related subject knowledge
  • Knowledge and understanding of student’s learning and development and how this relates to Music practice
  • Knowledge and awareness of current educational developments in Music
  • Experience of making effective contribution to school improvement through subject development, phase leadership, subject leadership, or management roles.
  • Evidence of knowledge and understanding of wider educational developments
  • Knowledge and experience in raising standards for all groups of students
  • How to plan, deliver, monitor, and evaluate lessons and learning as part of the school curriculum
  • Knowledge of assessment and reporting procedures
  • Knowledge of IGCSE and IB syllabus and arrangements
  • Ability to integrate technology into the classroom experience to enhance and extend the learning of students
  • Successfully teach students using technology in a virtual/hybrid environment

About you:

Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. You will be able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment as well as meet visa-related restrictions for Hong Kong of the China Region, including a Qualified to Bachelor of Education or appropriate Degree with PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status, hold a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure or equivalent from other countries. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students, the willingness to undertake appropriate child protection training.
