Sr DevOps Engineer (SME)

My client is a global tech-driven investment management firm, and they are currently growing their HK-based Cloud Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and supporting cloud-based services and solutions that address a very diverse business need. This role involves close collaboration with various teams, including trading and research, to promote the adoption of cloud services and implement a cloud-first approach to problem-solving. The cloud computing infrastructure is central to my client’s IT platform, supporting multiple business areas such as research technology, trading tools, market execution, and data processing.

Responsibilities of the Role:

• Collaborate with development, trading, and operations teams to design and implement deployment strategies for applications on AWS.
• Drive the adoption of CI/CD practices to automate and streamline the software delivery process.
• Develop and maintain monitoring solutions to ensure the health, performance, and availability of cloud-based applications.
• Work with developers to enhance the scalability, reliability, and security of applications in cloud environments.
• Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for technical issues related to deployments and infrastructure.
• Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies to improve the efficiency of DevOps processes.
• Act as a liaison between development, trading, and operations teams to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.

Required Skills for the Role:

• Extensive experience with AWS services and infrastructure, including EC2, S3, VPC, and related components.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or similar for automation and scripting tasks.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and experience implementing pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) concepts and experience with deployment automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK (Cloud Development Kit).
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and departments.
