Beacon Hill School (BHS) is a three- form entry school with approximately 540 students.  BHS is an accredited IB World School utilising the Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum framework.  Teaching and learning at BHS is underpinned by a rigorous and student-centred approach to curriculum pedagogy and practice.

Beacon Hill School is seeking to appoint a Mainscale Class Teacher.  This position will be a temporary contract from 26 August 2025 to 27 March, 2026.  

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Engage positively and productively in the life of the school
  • Make connections with students to know them well
  • Build independence, belonging, high engagement and success for all students
  • Teach in an inclusive way building on every student’s strengths and aligning with the inclusive philosophy of the school
  • Teach a range of students with varying needs, abilities and be able to personalise the learning and approach to meet their needs
  • Collaborate professionally with other staff members to ensure provision is the best it can be
  • Plan learning experiences that are significant, relevant, meaningful and engaging.
  • Use a range of strategies to build and maintain positive relationships within the classroom
  • Engage students in high-quality learning experiences using an inquiry approach, in line with the PYP and school philosophies.
  • Use technologies to enhance learning and teaching experiences
  • Use a range of assessment and reporting methods to monitor, document, measure and report on learning to improve learning and teaching

Wider Professional roles

  • Plan and engage in professional learning activities that support the school and systematic priorities
  • Take responsibility for their own professional development to continually improve
  • Make an active contribution to the development and aspirations of the school

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or Bachelor's degree in any subjects with PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) or equivalent
  • Teaching experience within an inclusive teaching environment
  • An understanding of the IB and the key underpinnings of the curriculum framework (PYP) is highly desirable
  • A minimum 2 years experience to work in our inclusive school setting
