Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate, Convertible Bond Trader to join our dynamic trading team. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in financial markets, particularly in convertible bonds, and a desire to develop their skills in trading, risk management, and market analysis. This role offers an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced traders and contribute to the success of our trading desk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trading Support:
  • Assist senior traders in executing convertible bond trades across global markets.
  • Monitor and analyze market conditions, including equity, credit, and interest rate movements, to identify trading opportunities.
  • Help manage trading positions and ensure compliance with risk limits.
  • Market Analysis:
  • Conduct research on convertible bond issuers, including financial performance, creditworthiness, and equity-linked trends.
  • Track and analyze pricing models, volatility, and other key metrics for convertible bonds.
  • Stay updated on macroeconomic trends, regulatory changes, and market developments that may impact convertible bond markets.
  • Risk Management:
  • Assist in monitoring and managing the risk exposure of the convertible bond portfolio.
  • Collaborate with the risk management team to ensure adherence to trading strategies and risk parameters.
  • Client Interaction:
  • Support traders in maintaining relationships with institutional clients, including hedge funds, asset managers, and proprietary trading firms.
  • Provide clients with market insights, trade ideas, and pricing information.
  • Operational Efficiency:
  • Ensure accurate and timely trade execution, settlement, and reconciliation.
  • Work closely with middle-office and back-office teams to resolve any trade-related issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • CFA Level 1 or progress toward CFA certification is a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in trading, sales, or research within financial markets (internships included).
  • Familiarity with convertible bonds, derivatives, or fixed-income products is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
  • Knowledge of trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters) and market data tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
