Main purpose of the role:

Simmons Adaptive are currently seeking an experienced IP Specialist Lawyer to join our client. As an IP Specialist Lawyer, you will play a crucial role in managing and advising on trademark-related matters. Your expertise in trademark clearance prosecution, maintenance and enforcement will be essential in delivering high-quality legal services to Simmons & Simmons’ clients. Our client is a global technology leader in digital payments and financial services.

Key duties include:

  • Conduct or manage comprehensive trademark clearance searches and provide strategic advice on trademark availability and registration to the relevant BU.
  • Manage trademark enforcement actions, including opposition proceedings, infringement disputes, and negotiation of settlements.
  • Oversee trademark filing projects in conjunction with global counsel and liaise with counsel and the BU as need be relative to coverage and office actions.
  • Advise BUs on trademark strategy, including brand protection and risk management.
  • Collaborate with international teams to coordinate cross-border trademark matters.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments in IP law and provide insights to clients and colleagues.
  • Draft and review legal documents related to IP matters, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, delivering exceptional service and support.


Person specification:

  • You are a qualified lawyer with a specialisation in intellectual property law.
  • You are fluent in Mandarin and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • You have proven experience in managing trademark clearance, prosecution and enforcement.
  • You have strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • You have ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • You have excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
