Job Summary:
Ocean product specialist, Europe and Intra-Asia or US lane, will be responsible for providing timely market updates and managing RFQ processes for ocean freight services across these trade lanes. This role will focus on delivering accurate market insights, maintaining competitive pricing through RFQs, and supporting the sales and procurement teams in securing business. The specialist will ensure that the company remains competitive and aligned with market trends, while also optimizing service offerings.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Market intelligence and updates:
- Conduct regular market analysis on Europe and Intra-Asia or US trade lanes, focusing on capacity, carrier rates, fuel surcharges, and regulatory changes
- Provide market updates to internal stakeholders, ensuring teams are informed about market fluctuations, trade imbalances, and competitor activity
- Monitor key market indicators, such as demand shifts, geopolitical impacts, and economic conditions affecting ocean freight
- Carrier and vendor management:
- Maintain strong relationships with ocean carriers and logistics service providers to secure favorable terms in RFQs and ongoing business
- Track and evaluate carrier performance and pricing trends to identify opportunities for cost savings or improved service quality
- Work with the procurement team to manage carrier allocation and capacity planning
- Stakeholder collaboration:
- Work closely with the sales and business development teams to provide accurate and competitive pricing for RFQs and support in securing new business
- Partner with operations teams to ensure that awarded RFQs align with operational capabilities and that commitments can be met
- Provide input to finance teams to ensure alignment of pricing strategies with cost management objectives
- Performance reporting and metrics:
- Track and report on the success rates of RFQs, analyzing win/loss data to inform future bidding strategies
- Prepare regular reports on market conditions, RFQ performance, and pricing trends for internal stakeholders
- Evaluate RFQ outcomes to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for more competitive bids
- Pricing strategy and execution:
- Develop, update, and maintain competitive pricing models for Europe and Intra-Asia or US trade lanes
- Collaborate with procurement teams to secure optimal carrier rates and allocations
- Adjust pricing based on market conditions, fuel surcharges, and general rate increases (GRIs)
- Lead the RFQ process for Europe and Intra-Asia or US trade lanes, including preparing, submitting, and reviewing bids
- Collaborate with the procurement team to negotiate and secure competitive rates from ocean carriers and service providers
- Ensure pricing provided in RFQs is accurate, competitive, and aligned with market conditions and company profitability targets

- Experience in a global freight forwarding or logistics environment
- Knowledge of regulations and compliance for Europe and Intra-Asia trade or US lanes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in ocean freight, pricing, or market analysis, with a focus on RFQ management
- Strong understanding of Europe and Intra-Asia trade lanes OR US lanes and the competitive dynamics within these regions
- Proven experience managing the RFQ process, from bid preparation to submission and analysis
- Strong market analysis skills and the ability to provide accurate and timely market updates
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data in a clear and actionable way
- Proficiency in pricing and freight management tools, as well as Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
- Fluency in English; additional European or Asian languages are a plus
