Job Description

Island School seeks a part-time (50%) Physical Education Teacher to join us in August 2025 at our state-of-the-art 8-story campus in Mid-levels. The teacher will be required to teach all levels of Physical Education preferably who can also teach a 2nd subject. An ability to coach basketball and knowledge and experience in teaching the IB SEHS and MYP PE programs will be an advantage in this post.   

Island School is a highly successful IB school located in the heart of Hong Kong. 1200 students aged 11 to 18 study an innovative and exciting curriculum combining our self-designed courses, the MYP, IGCSE, and IB programs. 

Sport & Leisure are an important part of life at Island School with an extensive array of activities taking place both with the curriculum and after school. The return to our new campus is particularly prevalent for this role as we move back to outstanding sports facilities including cardio and strength suites, a double sports hall, an indoor swimming pool, an astroturf and a climbing wall. 

Key Responsibilities for this role

The teacher will be required to teach all levels of Physical Education to Secondary students. An ability to coach basketball and Knowledge and experience in teaching the IB SEHS and MYP PE programs will be an advantage in this post.   

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • A relevant Bachelor's degree and/or postgraduate teaching qualification in Physical Education
  • 2+ years of teaching experience within a recognized educational organization is preferred
  • A commitment to the extra-curricular life of the school
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a team
  • The ability to realize the potential of students of all learning needs
  • The desire to embrace faculty-wide professional development and alternative curriculum models in Physical Education
  • Knowledge and experience in utilizing Learning Technologies in their teaching
