The Division of Life Science (LIFS) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Technical Officer to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are interested in laboratory management and support in a research-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the technical support for faculty members and research staff/students, ensuring smooth operations of academic courses and research projects in the LIFS main lab area.
  • Collaborate with the Campus Development/Management Offices to oversee lab renovation or setup works, ensuring alignment with established plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate laboratory planning and equipment procurement in compliance with university policies.
  • Work closely with the Health, Safety, and Environment Office (HSEO) to ensure laboratory safety and conduct training for research personnel.
  • Manage routine operations and maintenance of teaching/research laboratories.
  • Oversee and keep records of lab equipment/consumable inventory and stock takes.
  • Handle ad hoc responsibilities as assigned by the LIFS Lab Management Committee and the Division Head.

Applicants should possess a bachelor's degree, or ideally a master's degree, in life sciences or a related field. They should also have at least 3 years of experience in managing a Life Science laboratory. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
