Key Responsibilities
1. Develop proposals for the sustainability strategy of the Institute as the standard setter, and promoter and provider of capacity building.  Monitor development in the sustainability space globally and in Hong Kong to ensure that the agreed strategic aims and objectives remain relevant and contribute to Hong Kong staying abreast of international trends.

2. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of all aspects of the Institute’s sustainability activities, including standard setting and implementation support, education and training, advocacy and thought leadership, the internal net zero project, and corporate reporting to ensure continuing relevance and progress in accordance with the strategic intent.  Coordinate and contribute as necessary to the implementation of the sustainability strategy across different departments for effective delivery in accordance with agreed timelines.  

3. Be the champion to drive the Institute’s capacity building framework to provide a relevant and effective sustainability education and support facility for members and other stakeholders to meet the sustainability related requirements of their roles and responsibilities.

4. Collobarate with local and international agencies and bodies including CASG, IFRS capacity building partners, overseas professional bodies and local stakeholders for a comprehensive and effective capacity building framework for Hong Kong, and make relevant contributions to local and international capacity building efforts.  Identify appropriate channels and partners, and take ownership for effective delivery of Institue programmes covering aspects such as training, advocacy, community building etc.

5. Responsible for reporting and communicating the overall sustainability strategy and capacity building programme to members and other stakeholders to strengthen the positioning of the Institute in the sustainability journey of Hong Kong.  

6. Develop and lead an effective advocacy and thought leadership programme to position the Institute as an acknowledged leader in the field, and to explain key initiatives and developments, to widen the understanding and appreciation of the importance of sustainability to Institute members and other stakeholders.

7. Develop and manage the agenda, meetings, work plan and activities of the Sustainability Committee to ensure an effective contribution to appropriate aspects of the Institute’s sustainability activities.

8. Represent the Institute in relevant international groups and events such as ISSB Capacity Building partnership, GAA Sustainability Working Group, A4S and IFAC to demonstrate international presence and contribution, and to identify and assess appropriate collaborations and initiatives to support developments in Hong Kong.

9. Develop and manage a local network of key stakeholders, to contribute to the development of an integrated and inclusive sustainability ecosystem in Hong Kong (and enhancement of the Institute’s own activities).

Qualifications and Attributes

• A professional accounting qualification with 12 to 15 years of post-qualification experience is required.

• Proven record of recent (at least 5 years) sustainability related work in public practice, professional bodies, regulatory authorities or commercial organisations. Understanding of local (Hong Kong) and other jurisdictional sustainability environments and key features. Experience of working at a senior level on sustainability projects involving multiple departments or organisations is an advantage.

• Strategic thinking, key driver on strategic objectives and targets.

• Effective communicates with diverse audiences, including the ability to liaise with senior members/ stakeholders within and outside the Institute.

• Self-motivated and confident in dealing with general public/ stakeholders to arrive at consensus on complex matters.

• Networking and relationship management skills. Well-organised, able to work independently and in teams.

• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, and proficiency in Putonghua would be an advantage.
