Major responsibilities
This is an individual contributor role. The incumbent will report to the Senior Wildlife Rehabilitation Supervisor.
- Performing routine cleaning, disinfections, and maintenance of facilities and animal equipment.
- Daily cleaning and disinfection of towels, astroturf, and transport cages.
- Weekly cleaning of main drain filters, drain covers, and garbage stations.
- Bi-weekly cleaning of department vehicles.
- Bi-weekly oiling of locks and trolleys.
- Quarterly clearing of the content in WARC main drains.
- Any other routine cleaning tasks, as prescribed by Supervisors.
2. Performing non-routine cleaning and disinfection tasks.
- Dismantling and disinfecting enclosures once animals are moved out.
- Clearing and collecting dry leaf in WARC area.
- Clearing and/or pressure-washing walkways, walls, roof tops, and rain covers.
- Weeding old enclosures and facilities.
- Any other non-routine cleaning tasks, as requested by Supervisors.
3. Performing daily care for feeder animals and plants.
- Providing daily husbandry care for feeder mice.
- Providing daily husbandry care for feeder insects.
- Providing daily husbandry care for feeder fish.
- Watering, and if needed, relocation, of plants in animal enclosures.
4. Managing WARC Storerooms.
- Keeping track of in-and-out equipment.
- Performing weekly and bi-weekly stock checks for equipment and feed items, and place orders on relevant purchase lists.
- Maintaining the tidiness of the WARC Storerooms.
- Routinely inspecting the functionality of electric tools and following up with any necessary repairs.
- Any other tasks related to the management of the Storerooms, as requested by Supervisors.
5. Performing on-site and off-site duties with company vehicles.
- Collecting feeder insects from Mong Kok.
- Collecting live feeder fish from Kam Tin.
- Collecting waste wood from the upper hill of KFBG.
- Purchasing and/or transporting animals, equipment, and/or food items, as requested by supervisors.
6. Performing other manual tasks as assistant of WARC’s keepers and supervisors.
- Setting up animal enclosures before animals are moved in.
- Moving large quantity of animals in heavy transport boxes.
- Moving heavy equipment, furniture, etc., to and from animal enclosures.
7. Other supportive manual labor, upon requests by Supervisors.
Job Requirements
- At least 1-year relevant working experience, in warehouse management, logistics, construction, or other relevant fields.
- Class II driving license holder
- Good command in spoken Cantonese and/or Mandarin, basic level in written English.
- Physically fit to perform heavy manual labor in an outdoor environment.
- Willing to work on weekends and public holidays.
- Able to work independently and work in a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Honest, responsible, and friendly.
