In a nutshell
The role of the Accountant is to take on responsibility for the general accounting and reporting duties for the Sainsbury’s Argos Asia’s Hong Kong entities and also assist in the consolidation of other Asian entities. The role specifically requires a high level of integrity and focus on Internal Control as well support to the business to ensure it meets its financial objectives.
What I am accountable for
- Full responsibility on timely full set accounts of financial closing for Hong Kong entities including but not limited to balance sheet, bank and intercompany reconciliation, fixed assets and accounts payable.
- HKFRS16 accounting support for all Asian entities
- Assist in handling Asia consolidation adjustment, revaluation, and reconciliation for statutory and management accounts and to ensure compliance with local legislation, accounting standard and UK Group policies
- Budgeting and forecasting on P&L, BS, cash flow and taxation. Reviewing budgets and forecasts of other Asia entities
- Liaise with internal and external auditors, tax advisors, company secretary and Bank to support audit, tax filing, company secretarial and treasury duties for Asia entities
- Concur administration and payments. Liaising with Concur and our UK counterparty regarding system testing and any system changes required.
- Cost reporting – P&L plus specific cost line reports and variance analysis
- Coach and supervise Assistant Accountant in completing the above tasks and their development
- Ensure the team follow robust internal control processes on Finance policies, procedures and identify areas along with solutions that need process improvement
- Back up other Asia office finance operation
- Project support for Finance initiatives and ad-hoc requests from other departments
What I need to know
- Relevant University degree
- Minimum 4 years in a similar role with strong emphasis on financial control and reporting
- Candidates with CPA and audit experience is preferable
- Strong financial software experience – Navision and Oracle
- Strong Microsoft Office skills – in particular Excel
- Good communication and English language skills (Good Chinese language skill is a plus)
- High attention to detail, able to work under pressure and solve problem independently
