Senior Information Technology Officer (Systems Operation Unit) (24250016)

Reporting to the Manager (Systems Operation Unit) of Information Technology, the appointee will provide the infrastructure support to the University's data center operation, centralised server clusters, private and public cloud infrastructures to ensure the stability and performance of IT services provisioned to the University community. 

Responsibilities:

• Support IT administration, maintenance and implementation tasks on IT System Infrastructure to deliver services in high availability;
• Technical support of Linux, Windows, AIX and VMware vCenter;
• Plan, develop, implement, maintain and support hardware, software and technology solutions;
• Perform Linux, Windows and AIX system administration including system setup and backup, software installation, patch upgrade, system monitoring and health checks;
• Responsible for system troubleshooting and performance tuning;
• Manage capacity monitoring on system and applications;
• Document system operation procedures; and
• Take up ad-hoc duties as required.

Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or related discipline;
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure designs, solution implementation and supports in an enterprise environment;
• Proficiency in administration on Linux, Windows, AIX, VMware vCenter, vSAN, SAN Storage & various backup solutions;
• Experience in Database Administration (e.g. MySQL, DB2, Sybase, Oracle);
• Experience in O365, SIEM, VDI, Load Balancer, Server Monitoring (e.g. Nagios);
• Experience in automation, using common scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Perl, Python, PowerShell);
• Able to work independently and under pressure;
• Good problem solving skill for handling system operations issue; and
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, self-motivated, detail minded and ready to adopt new technologies.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.

The initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to performance review and mutual agreement.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
