Assistant Accountant (at the rank of Accountancy Assistant) / Assistant Officer (Accounting) (at the rank of General Clerk II) (Ref. 250000ET) (Closing date: Mar 18, 2025)

The appointee will be responsible for (a) handling full set of accounts of a college, including preparing accounting entries, processing expense payments, preparing management reports, assisting in handling queries raised from the annual audit and drafting audit report; (b) processing accounting documents, preparing monthly management reports and the annual budget of student hostels; (c) handling payments for utilities charges, rates and government rent and recovering payments from internal and external parties; (d) preparing monthly reports and following up payments for the current accounts; (e) preparing reconciliation reports for bank accounts; and (f) undertaking ad-hoc assignments or other duties as assigned.

 

Applicants should have (i) completed secondary education; (ii) Grade D/Level 3 or above in Chinese and English (Syllabus B), and Grade E/Level 2 or above in another 3 subjects in HKCEE, preferably including Principles of Accounts; OR any combination of results in at least 5 HKDSE subjects (including Level 3 or above in Chinese and English): Level 2 or above in NSS subjects, “Attained” or above in ApL subjects (subject to a maximum of 2 subjects), and Grade E or above in other language subjects; (iii) a Diploma or above in an Accounting discipline from a recognized technical institute; or passed LCCI Level 3 accounting examination; (iv) at least 8 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or related field; (v) experience in handling full set of accounts; (vi) proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook (experience in SAP will be advantageous); (vii) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (knowledge of Putonghua is advantageous); (viii) attentiveness to details and accuracy; (ix) initiative, self-motivation, and strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills; and (x) the ability to work independently. Candidate with less experience may be considered for appointment as Assistant Officer (Accounting) (at the rank of General Clerk II).

Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
